Pavel Buchnevich’s OT goal sends Blues past Kraken

Pavel Buchnevich scored twice, including the winner at 3:31 of overtime, and added an assist as the St. Louis Blues rallied for a 4-3 victory against the host Seattle Kraken on Friday night.

Robert Thomas had a goal and an assist, Oskar Sundqvist also tallied and Brayden Schenn added two assists for St. Louis, which won its fourth game in a row. Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington made 33 saves.

Oliver Bjorkstrand had a goal and an assist for Seattle, which dropped to 1-4-1 in its past six games. Brian Dumoulin and Eeli Tolvanen also scored, and Joey Daccord stopped 14 of 18 shots.

Buchnevich scored the winner on a one-timer from just outside the top of the crease after a slick pass from Schenn.

Buchnevich tied the score at 3-3 at 1:27 of the third period, taking a pass from Thomas and beating Daccord with a one-timer high to the glove side from just inside the top of the left faceoff circle.

The Blues opened the scoring on the power play at 7:39 of the first period. Schenn skated down the left wing and sent a centering pass to Sundqvist at the far post. Sundqvist put a one-timer into the net before Daccord could get all the way across.

The Kraken tied it at 10:16 of the first. Adam Larsson kept the puck in the offensive zone at the right point and sent a pass to Dumoulin, whose wrist shot from the top of the left faceoff circle beat a screened Binnington and went in off the far post.

Seattle took a 2-1 lead with a man advantage at 3:55 of the second period. Alex Wennberg carried the puck down the left wing on a three-on-two rush and found Bjorkstrand alone in the slot for a one-timer.

The Kraken made it 3-1 at 6:42 of the middle frame. Bjorkstrand stole the puck in the offensive zone to leave Binnington alone to face a two-man rush. Tolvanen passed to Yanni Gourde, who sent the puck back to Tolvanen for an easy tap-in at the left post.

The Blues struck again on the power play to pull within 3-2 at 15:01 of the second. Thomas got his stick on a shot from the blue line by Scott Perunovich and tipped it past Daccord.
