Forward Evgeni Malkin will return for his 21st season with the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2026-27.
The team signed the pending free agent to a one-year, $5.5 million contract extension on Tuesday.
Malkin, who turns 40 on July 31, recorded 61 points (19 goals, 42 assists) in 56 games in 2025-26.
The three-time Stanley Cup champion and seven-time All-Star made his NHL debut with Pittsburgh in 2006.
He won the Calder Trophy as the league’s top rookie in 2006-07, the Hart Trophy as league MVP in 2011-12, two Art Ross trophies as the NHL scoring leader (2008-09, 2011-12) and the 2009 Conn Smythe Trophy as the playoff MVP.
Malkin ranks second behind teammate Sidney Crosby in Penguins history in games (1,269). He ranks third in goals (533), assists (874) and points (1,407).
