Connor Dewar scored twice and his teammates added four goals in the second period as the Pittsburgh Penguins skated away with a 6-2 victory over the visiting Chicago Blackhawks on Thursday night.

Dewar posted his second two-goal game in his last five as the Penguins extended their winning streak to five. Anthony Mantha added one goal and two assists while Ben Kindel and Ryan Shea contributed one goal and one assist apiece.

Noel Acciari and Blake Lizotte earned assists on both of Dewar’s tallies.

Arturs Silovs made 18 saves for his second straight win.

Connor Murphy scored for the second time in five games and Connor Bedard scored as well for the Blackhawks, who fell for the fourth time in a row. Frank Nazar assisted on both.

Arvid Soderblom denied the Penguins 38 times, but the Blackhawks goalie faced 40 or more shots for the fourth time this season.

The four-goal second period decided the game. The Penguins’ last three came in a four-minute span late.

Kindel’s 11th goal of the season put the Penguins up 2-1 with 14:06 left in the second. The rookie has scored three goals in back-to-back games after going without any goals in 19 straight.

Egor Chinakhov made it 3-1 with 4:30 to go for his ninth of the season. Six have come in the 14 games he’s played for Pittsburgh since being acquired from Columbus. Evgeni Malkin assisted, the fourth time he’s set up his fellow Russian linemate.

Mantha added to the lead 31 seconds later, then Shea finished the barrage with 30 seconds remaining in the period.

Pittsburgh put 23 shots on goal in the second period. The Penguins’ 44 shots were their most since getting 47 against Anaheim on Dec. 9.

Murphy gave Chicago the lead midway through the first period, with Nazar and Ryan Greene assisting. Dewar tied it up less than two minutes later.

Chicago captain Nick Foligno skated only two shifts before leaving the game midway through the first period.
