Ryan O’Reilly scored the lone goal in the shootout as the visiting Nashville Predators battled for a 4-3 win against the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday.

Jonathan Toews tied the game 3-3 with 1:01 remaining in regulation when Connor Hellebuyck was pulled for an extra skater, and Mark Scheifele set Toews up for a snap shot. Following a scoreless overtime period, O’Reilly got the better of Hellebuyck in the first round of the shootout.

Jonathan Marchessault had two assists on the evening, and Filip Forsberg had a goal and an assist for the Predators, who had lost each of their last two games against the Jets. Juuse Saros made 36 saves.

Gabriel Vilardi had a goal and an assist, and Kyle Connor tallied three assists for the Jets, who had won two straight home games. Josh Morrissey also scored, and Hellebuyck made 20 saves.

Eric Haula put Nashville up 1-0 at 13:02 of the first period. The Predators were on their first power play of the game, and Haula tipped Roman Josi’s shot past Hellebuyck.

Morrissey tied it 1-1 with 40 seconds left in the first period. Vilardi set Morrissey up with a pass from behind Nashville’s net, and he scored on a wrist shot.

Vilardi put the Jets ahead 2-1 at 5:09 of the second period. Kyle Connor’s no-look backhanded pass crossed the paint in front of Saros, then Cole Perfetti tipped the puck to Vilardi. His wrist shot caught Saros out of position.

Forsberg tied the game back up 2-2 at 10:48 when Marchessault set him up for a slap shot. Matt Wood put the Predators back on top 3-2 at 14:01 of the third period when Marchessault set him up for a slap shot.
