San Francisco 49ers running back Isaac Guerendo is unlikely to play in Sunday’s game against the host Miami Dolphins, ESPN reported Thursday.
Guerendo is nursing a foot injury sustained in the 49ers’ 12-6 loss to the Los Angeles Rams last Thursday.
The rookie was pressed into the lead role following season-ending injuries to Christian McCaffrey and Jordan Mason. The 24-year-old Guerendo has 73 carries for 381 yards and a team high-tying four touchdowns in 14 games this season.
Patrick Taylor and Israel Abanikanda would be in line for larger workloads for the 49ers (6-8) should Guerendo sit out against the Dolphins (6-8).
Taylor has rushed 14 times for 50 yards in 10 games this season, while Abanikanda does not have a carry this season.
