Report: DeWanna Bonner joining Fever on 1-year deal

DeWanna Bonner

Six-time WNBA All-Star forward DeWanna Bonner is signing a one-year contract with the Indiana Fever, ESPN reported Sunday.

Financial terms were not disclosed for Bonner, who rejoins former Connecticut Sun coach and now Indiana bench boss Stephanie White.

The two-time WNBA champion also joins a Fever team that features former top overall draft picks Caitlin Clark and Aliyah Boston. Indiana also is re-signing two-time All-Star guard Kelsey Mitchell and adding three-time WNBA champion Natasha Howard. On Friday, they reportedly traded NaLyssa Smith and the No. 8 pick to the Dallas Wings and received Sophie Cunningham from the Phoenix Mercury and the 19th pick in the WNBA draft as part of a three-team deal

The Fever will be counting on the additions to help them improve on their 20-20 regular-season record, which was followed by a first-round playoff exit.

Bonner, 37, averaged 15.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists last season and earned her third All-Star selection in four years.

A 2015 first-team All-WNBA player and three-time Sixth Woman of the Year, Bonner is averaging 14.9 points, 6.1 rebounds and 2.3 assists in 502 career games (399 starts) with the Phoenix Mercury (2009-16, 2018-19) and Sun (2020-24).
