Jacksonville Jaguars linebacker Foyesade Oluokun has plantar fasciitis, and the foot issue is expected to sideline him for several weeks but not require surgery, NFL Network reported Tuesday.
Oluokun, 29, has 22 tackles, including three tackles for loss and one sack, in three starts for the 0-3 Jaguars.
Last season in 17 starts, he had 173 tackles, including an NFL-best 111 solo tackles, with eight tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and one interception, which he returned for a touchdown. Oluokun led the league in both total tackles (184) and solo tackles (128) in his first season in Jacksonville in 2022.
He played his first four seasons with the Atlanta Falcons, who selected him in the sixth round of the 2018 NFL Draft out of Yale. He topped the league with 192 tackles for the Falcons in 2021. His career totals are 841 tackles, 35 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks, six interceptions, 24 passes defended, 10 forced fumbles and six fumble recoveries in 101 games (78 starts).
In March, Oluokun signed a contract extension through the 2027 season for a reported value up to $45 million, including $22.5 million guaranteed.
