The Detroit Lions are signing veteran defensive end Bruce Irvin, NFL Network reported Tuesday.
Irvin, 36, will join Detroit’s practice squad for the time being.
Irvin has yet to play in a game this season following his third stint with the Seattle Seahawks in 2022.
He has collected 55.5 sacks in 138 games (103 starts) over 11 seasons with Seattle (2012-15, 2020, 2022), the then-Oakland Raiders (2016-18), Atlanta (2018), Carolina (2019) and Chicago (2021).
The 2012 first-round draft pick out of West Virginia also has 343 career tackles, three interceptions (two for touchdown), 16 forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.
Irvin had 3.5 sacks in 11 games (10 starts) for the Seahawks last year.
The Lions (7-2), owners of the second-best record in the NFC, allowed 38 points to the Los Angeles Chargers on Sunday, two games after yielding 38 to the Baltimore Ravens.
