Houston Texans left guard Kenyon Green sustained a season-ending shoulder injury in Thursday night’s loss to the New York Jets, NFL Network reported Friday.
Green left the Texans’ 21-13 road loss in the second quarter after attempting to block Jets star defensive tackle Quinnen Williams. He went to the sideline medical tent and then to the locker room for an X-ray before being ruled out.
It’s another tough blow for Green, a first-round pick (15th overall) in the 2022 NFL Draft, who missed the entire 2023 season with a shoulder injury (torn labrum) sustained in the preseason.
Green, 23, started the first nine games this season for Houston (6-3). He started 14 of his 15 appearances during his 2022 rookie campaign.
Kendrick Green replaced Green on Thursday.
