The Philadelphia Eagles are signing former Pro Bowl linebacker Devin White to a one-year contract worth up to $7.5 million including incentives, according to multiple media reports Thursday night.
White, 26, has played his entire career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but sought a trade before last season after failing to get a contract extension and instead played out his fifth-year option.
He had his worst season, starting 13 of 14 regular-season games and sharing time with K.J. Britt before coming off the bench in two playoff games. White finished with 83 tackles, five tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and two interceptions.
Tampa Bay selected him fifth overall in the 2019 NFL Draft out of LSU and he started every game he played for his first four seasons. White was selected second-team All-Pro in 2020, when he recorded career highs of 140 tackles and nine sacks, and he was voted to the Pro Bowl in 2021.
He has totaled 566 tackles, 40 tackles for loss, 23 sacks, six forced fumbles and three interceptions in 76 regular-season games (75 starts). He intercepted Patrick Mahomes in Tampa Bay’s Super Bowl victory over the Kansas City Chiefs in the 2020 season.
