Saints utilityman Taysom Hill returned to New Orleans on Sunday night after being transported to a hospital with a chest injury sustained during a 44-19 road win against the Dallas Cowboys.
Hill was scheduled to have more tests Monday but the team does not consider the injury “overly serious,” WFAA TV in Dallas reported.
Coach Dennis Allen confirmed after the game that Hill had been taken to a hospital, although it wasn’t clear when or how the injury occurred. The team announced in the second half that he was doubtful to return.
Hill, 34, finished the game with three carries for 18 yards and one catch for 1 yard. He had five carries for 35 yards in the Week 1 win against the Carolina Panthers.
Hill has rushed for 2,212 yards and 27 touchdowns, caught 78 passes for 758 yards and 11 scores, and passed for 2,348 yards and 11 TDs in 99 games (43 starts) since signing as an undrafted free agent in 2017.
