After storms rolled through Kentucky on Friday night, Racing Louisville and Seattle Reign postponed their scheduled match to Saturday and Maddie Dahlein’s goal helped the Reign earn a 1-0 victory.
Seattle (4-3-2, 14 points) earned the win through a hustle play in the 39th minute, when the Reign kept a ball from going out of bounds. After Seattle kept possession going, Samantha Meza found Dahlein down the left flank and the forward buried a shot across the face of goalkeeper Jordyn Bloomer and into the right corner of the net.
With high wind still rolling through the area, crosses and shots lifted in Louisville, which made offense hard to come by for Racing (3-4-2, 11 points) and Samantha Demelo’s ability to cross into dangerous areas. Racing managed only one shot on goal with 20 shots total, compared to only four total shots with three on target for Seattle.
The Seattle win halts a three-match unbeaten streak (2-0-1) for Louisville. Meanwhile, the Reign have won two of their past three games.
