Chicago Sky veteran point guard Courtney Vandersloot exited Saturday night’s home game against the Indiana Fever in the first quarter and will not return because of a knee injury, the Sky announced.
Vandersloot was driving to the basket when she was fouled by Indiana’s Aari McDonald at the 5:29 mark and fell to the floor in pain while grabbing her right knee. She received medical attention and was carried off the floor to the locker room.
The 36-year-old averaged 12.0 points, 3.7 rebounds, 6.2 assists and 1.8 steals in her first six games. She had two points on 1-for-1 shooting in five minutes against the Fever.
The 15-year veteran entered the day with career averages of 10.0 points, 3.2 rebounds, 6.6 assists and 1.3 steals in 435 games (404 starts) for the Sky (2011-22, present) and New York Liberty (2023-24).
Vandersloot helped lead the Sky to the WNBA championship in 2021 and was a key reserve of the Liberty’s league title team in 2024.
A five-time All-Star and five-time All-WNBA selection, Vandersloot has led the league in assists seven times.
