The Washington Spirit have signed rookie forward Makenna Morris to a one-year contract for the 2025 season, the NWSL club announced Friday.
Morris, 22, is playing this season on a one-year deal after being selected 13th overall in the 2024 draft out of Clemson.
“Makenna has been a valuable piece of this year’s Spirit team, having significant impact across different positions,” Spirit general manager Mark Krikorian said in a news release. “The versatility she brings to the pitch is very important to the way this team plays.”
Morris has played in nine matches (four starts) this season across all competitions. She tallied her first goal and an assist in a 3-0 win against Bay FC on July 6.
“I’m thrilled to re-sign with the Spirit,” Morris said. “It’s been a blessing to learn and grow as a player under this staff and this group of players and I’m excited to have the opportunity to keep working hard and growing. DC is home and I can’t wait to continue to play in front of the best fans.”
