Ta’Niya Latson, who was the Division I leading scorer at Florida State, announced on social media Tuesday that she is transferring to South Carolina.
The 5-foot-8 guard averaged a robust 25.2 points per game, 4.6 rebounds and 4.6 assists this past season while shooting 45.1 percent from the field
She took to Instagram to announce her decision, which was a picture with her wearing a South Carolina jersey with the caption of “Feelin’ cocky!”
Gamecocks coach Dawn Staley then took to Twitter to revel in the news.
“A birdie just flew in nest!!” Staley wrote.
The news comes two days after South Carolina dropped an 82-59 decision to UConn in the Women’s NCAA Tournament national championship game.
Latson will reunite with former high school teammate Raven Johnson on the Gamecocks.
