Tennessee quarterback Will Levis, after missing two games with a right shoulder injury, is listed as questionable for the Titans’ home game Sunday against the New England Patriots.
Levis, who has been limited at practice, had a “good week,” coach Brian Callahan said on Friday.
“He felt a lot better this week than he did last week, which is positive,” Callahan said. “You can see the strength and stamina starting to come back a little bit. We’ll see by the time we get to game day, but he’s better than he was last week, which is all we were hoping to see.”
Callahan had said on Wednesday that the team was monitoring how Levis feels as he throws on consecutive days, and if the quarterback felt up to it, ramping up his throwing.
Levis, 25, has started nine games this season and completed 66.4 percent of his passes for 699 yards, five touchdowns and seven interceptions.
He was injured in the Titans’ 20-17 loss to the Indianapolis Colts on Oct. 13. Mason Rudolph, 29, has played in three games, starting in place of Levis in road losses to the Buffalo Bills on Oct. 20 and Detroit Lions last Sunday. He is 56 of 95 (58.9 percent) for 566 yards and two touchdowns with three interceptions.
The Titans has lost three straight to fall to 1-6, while the Patriots are 2-6.
The Titans selected Levis in the second round (33rd overall) of the 2023 NFL Draft out of Kentucky. Levis has started all 14 games he has played in parts of two seasons, going 4-10, while completing 232 of 380 passes (61.1 percent) for 2,507 yards, 13 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
Callahan also ruled out cornerback L’Jarius Sneed for Sunday because of a quad injury.
Sneed, 27, hasn’t played since the Oct. 13 loss to visiting Indianapolis. He has 23 tackles in five games (all starts) this season.
He is in his first season with the Titans after a March trade from the Chiefs. Kansas City had picked him in the fourth round of the 2020 draft out of Louisiana Tech.
Sneed has 326 career tackles, 6.5 sacks, 10 interceptions, 40 passes defended, four forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries in 62 regular-season games (59 starts). He has started 13 of 13 career playoff games, and has 75 tackles, two sacks and one interception. He was a member of the Chiefs’ Super Bowl championship teams in 2022 and 2023.
