Herve Renard confirmed on his Instagram account on Saturday that he will not be staying on as Tunisia national team coach beyond the 2026 World Cup.
Renard, 57, was hired after Tunisia’s disastrous 5-1 loss to Sweden in their group stage opener led to the firing of Sabri Lamouchi.
His initial contract was a short-term pact meant only to last the duration of the tournament.
The results were hardly better with the Frenchman in charge, with the North Africans following with a 4-0 loss to Japan and a 3-1 defeat to the Netherlands.
Renard has now coached in four World Cups, guiding the Morocco men in 2018, Saudi Arabia men in 2022 and French women in 2023.
