The Utah Hockey Club placed defenseman Juuso Valimaki on waivers Sunday.
Valimaki, 26, was in his third season with the Arizona/Utah franchise when he played a combined 189 games.
Utah recently added defensemen John Marino and Sean Durzi back into the lineup following long-term injury absences, and Valimaki lost his spot. If he clears waivers, Utah can assign him to AHL affiliate Tucson.
He had two goals, three assists and 14 penalty minutes in 43 games this season. He was also selected to Finland’s squad for the 4 Nations Face-Off but did not appear in a game.
The Calgary Flames selected Valimaki in the first round of the 2017 NHL Draft. He has totaled 11 goals and 61 assists in 271 career games spread over six NHL seasons.
