The Minnesota Vikings placed standout linebacker Blake Cashman on injured reserve on Thursday due to a hamstring injury.
Running back/returner Ty Chandler (knee) also was placed on IR. Cashman and Chandler each will miss at least four games.
Cashman had three tackles before exiting Monday night’s 27-24 victory over the Chicago Bears.
He stood out in his first season with the Vikings last season as he recorded career highs of 112 tackles, 4.5 sacks and eight pass breakups.
Cashman also had a solid season for the Houston Texans in 2023 when he had 106 tackles and two sacks. He then departed as a free agent and signed with Minnesota.
Cashman has 296 tackles, 10 sacks and four fumble recoveries in 59 games (36 starts) with the New York Jets (2019-21), Texans (2022-23) and Vikings.
Chandler, 27, didn’t carry the ball against the Bears and returned three kickoffs for 84 yards.
Chandler is in his fourth season with the Vikings. He has rushed for 663 yards and three touchdowns, caught 27 passes for 201 yards and averaged 25.7 on 15 kickoff returns.
Minnesota also signed receiver Tim Jones and tight end Nick Vannett from their practice squad to the 53-man roster. The Vikings also signed cornerback Tyrek Funderburk and linebacker Sione Takitaki to the practice squad.
