William Nylander scored once in a three-point game and the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs posted a 4-2 victory over the Calgary Flames on Monday.

Matias Maccelli, Troy Stecher and Bobby McMann also scored for the Maple Leafs, who have won two consecutive games since losing six straight (0-5-1).

Toronto has won eight consecutive meetings and is on a 15-3-1 run against Calgary since the 2020-21 season.

Maple Leafs goaltender Joseph Woll made 28 saves, 13 of them in the third period to preserve the victory.

Toronto won a road game in regulation for the first time since Dec. 4.

Nazem Kadri and Joel Farabee both collected one goal and one assist for the Flames, who have one win in seven games (1-4-2).

Goalie Dustin Wolf stopped 18 shots.

Nylander sent the Maple Leafs off and running 35 seconds into the clash. John Tavares intercepted a Calgary pass and sprung Nylander on a breakaway that he converted for the seventh goal in his past eight games.

Maccelli doubled the lead by converting an open chance from the slot set up by Nylander at 7:17 of the second period.

Stecher made it a 3-0 game less than two minutes later when he jumped down from his point position, took a feed from Nylander as he headed to the cage and completed a backhand deke.

Nylander, who was born in Calgary while his father played for the Flames, has racked up 36 points in 26 career meetings with the Flames (13 goals, 23 assists).

Kadri provided the Flames a flicker of hope when he put them on the board at 13:15 of the middle frame with a needle-threading high, short-side shot as he zipped down the wing.

Farabee made it a 3-2 affair 2:31 later when he crashed the net and chipped home a cross-crease fed from Kadri, giving him goals in consecutive games.

Calgary frantically pushed for the equalizer and came within a whisker on multiple occasions. Woll made a sprawling save on Adam Klapka’s golden chance with less than six minutes remaining, one of the many scoring chances the Flames created in vain.

McMann’s empty-net goal with 24.5 seconds on the clock iced the victory.
