William Nylander scored two goals and Joseph Woll made 38 saves to fuel the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs to a 5-3 victory over the Dallas Stars on Wednesday.
Toronto’s Nicholas Robertson, who collected a goal and an assist, was playing against his brother Jason with their parents in attendance.
Max Domi and Bobby McMann also tallied for the Maple Leafs, who posted their fourth win in five outings despite being outshot by a 41-19 margin.
Evgenii Dadonov logged a goal and an assist and Sam Steel and Colin Blackwell also scored for the Stars, who have lost seven straight decisions to Toronto.
Jake Oettinger yielded four goals on 12 shots before being relieved after the second period by Casey DeSmith, who made six saves.
Nylander reeled in Maple Leafs captain Auston Matthews’ lead pass and lifted the puck over Oettinger’s glove to forge a 2-2 tie at 5:15 of the second period.
Robertson scored 16 seconds later after regaining possession of the puck in the high slot and wiring a shot past a screened Oettinger.
McMann fired a shot in transition that sailed under the arm of Oettinger to give Toronto a 4-2 lead at 11:01 of the second period.
Blackwell halved the deficit with 2:16 left in the third period before Nylander sealed the win with his team-leading 20th goal just 33 seconds later.
Steel fended off Matthews before skating in and tucking the puck under the crossbar to open the scoring at 5:14 of the first period. The goal was Steel’s fourth of the season and second in his past five games.
Domi responded 59 seconds later by wristing a shot from the right circle that sailed under the top left corner of the net.
Dadonov used Maple Leafs defenseman Morgan Rielly as a screen and beat Woll to give Dallas a 2-1 lead just 22 seconds into the second period.
