Sportsbook sets odds on Cardinals’ perfect run; ending vs. Packers?

Kyler Murray

Arizona is undefeated and set to host NFC North-leading Green Bay on Thursday. Odds from BetMGM indicate the Packers pose a serious threat to the Cardinals’ perfect season.

In addition to being 17-0 in the regular season (+2500) BetMGM has expanded its market on the Cardinals with “week of first loss” odds, coupled with winless Detroit odds on the week of the Lions’ first win.

Odds are favorable for both to happen this week.

Packers Post Serious Threat

The Cardinals welcome the Packers to kick off Week 8 and odds are down to +200 of Green Bay being the team to spoil Arizona’s unblemished record. The Cardinals are favored by six.

The Lions get the Philadelphia Eagles at Ford Field and BetMGM likes Detroit at +135 to notch its first win of the 2021 regular season.

If Arizona escapes the challenge of Aaron Rodgers and the Packers this week, the Cardinals are +240 to lose in Week 9 at San Francisco.

The Lions’ next best chance to win based on BetMGM lines as of Tuesday is Week 12, when the Chicago Bears come calling. Detroit is +500 for that game.

Arizona has a bye in Week 12. Prior to the rest week, BetMGM has the Panthers (+700) and a visit to Seattle (+500) as likely Cardinals’ wins. The Cardinals come out of the bye to travel to likely chilly Chicago (+2000), then host the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams are +1400 to be the team to beat the Cardinals.

In Week 15, the Lions are +6600 to knock off Arizona in Detroit.

The Lions are +700 to go 0-17 in the regular season. Detroit stands as massive longshots from Week 12 to Week 18.

Kyler Murray
1. Cardinals (1): Don’t believe in the league’s only unbeaten team? Arizona also boasts the NFL’s largest point differential (+111), is the toughest team to score on (16.3 points allowed per game), is getting defensive reinforcements off the COVID-19 list — including OLB Chandler Jones — and is already effectively integrating new TE Zach Ertz, the first player to catch a TD pass in successive weeks … for different teams. Oh yeah … and Kyler Murray.
