CeeDee Lamb helps Cowboys top Lions, remain perfect at home

CeeDee Lamb caught 13 passes for 227 yards, including a 92-yard touchdown, and the host Dallas Cowboys held off the Detroit Lions 20-19 on Saturday night.

Detroit scored on an 11-yard touchdown pass from Jared Goff to Amon-Ra St. Brown with 23 seconds left. An apparent go-ahead 2-point conversion pass to lineman Taylor Decker was wiped out when the officials said Decker didn’t report as an eligible receiver. Goff then threw an incompletion.

Dak Prescott threw for 345 yards and two touchdowns for the Cowboys (11-5), who remained unbeaten at home.

Goff finished with 271 passing yards and threw two interceptions. David Montgomery rushed for 65 yards on 14 carries and a touchdown for the Lions (11-5), who had already clinched the NFC North title.

Dallas held a 7-3 lead at halftime.

The Lions scored on their first possession as Michael Badgley kicked a 41-yard field goal. Dallas took the lead later in the quarter on the long touchdown pass. Prescott escaped pressure and Lamb caught the ball at midfield as his defender fell down. Lamb jogged into the end zone on the longest play from scrimmage in the NFL this season.

Detroit drove inside the Cowboys’ 5-yard line after a successful fake play but wound up turning the ball over on downs.

With 4:34 remaining in the third quarter, the Lions took the lead on Montgomery’s 3-yard run up the middle. That capped off a 13-play, 74-yard drive.

Brandon Aubrey made a 51-yard field goal with 23 seconds left in the quarter to tie the score 10-10.

Detroit regained the lead on Badgley’s 30-yard field goal with 12:18 remaining. That was set up by Goff’s 63-yard completion to Jameson Williams.

The Cowboys responded with a 75-yard drive, capped by Prescott’s 8-yard scoring pass to Brandin Cooks with 7:20 left.

Lamb had a key 22-yard reception on third down to help Dallas bleed the clock. However, Aidan Hutchinson’s third sack of the game forced a Dallas punt.

Two plays later, Donovan Wilson intercepted a Goff pass at Detroit’s 29-yard line. Aubrey made a 43-yard field goal with 1:41 remaining for a seven-point advantage.
