Johnson’s arrival will help make up for the loss of receiver Dillon Mitchell, who left early to enter the NFL Draft. Mitchell led Oregon with 75 catches for 1,184 yards and 10 touchdowns.
Johnson’s best season at Penn State came in 2017, when he caught 54 passes for 701 yards. He caught 81 passes for 1,123 yards and two touchdowns in three seasons with the Nittany Lions.
Johnson (6-4, 225) was a four-star recruit out of Glassboro (N.J.) High School.
He joins an Oregon team that likely will be favored to win the Pac-12, led by Herbert, considered a potential first-round talent.
