PointsBet Sportsbook opened a new World Series futures market with +10000 odds and a 100 percent chance of Armageddon in Chicago.
The “Red Line World Series” bet is a futures bet that the Chicago baseball teams will meet in the World Series. A bet with +10000 odds translates to 100-1. A $10 bet on the Red Line World Series would return $1000 should the teams meet for the championship.
The Cubs enter Thursday with a 1.5-game edge in the National League Central over the St. Louis Cardinals with a 32-23 record.
The White Sox were a popular bet to win the American League prior to the season. The Sox are 33-22 entering Thursday and lead the American League Central by 2.5 games.
The White Sox are currently the third favorite to win the World Series via PointsBet at +700, which rates behind the Los Angeles Dodgers (+330) and San Diego Padres (+650).
The Cubs remain in the middle of the pack at +3300 to win the World Series, which is behind the Cardinals and Milwaukee Brewers. The Atlanta Braves and New York Mets, plus the Dodgers and Padres, are also ahead of the Cubs among NL teams listed in PointsBet’s current World Series odds.
During the regular season, the Cubs host the White Sox from Aug. 6-8 for three consecutive matinee games.
The Red Line refers to the elevated train with stops outside of Wrigley Field and Guaranteed Rate Field, home of the White Sox. The teams meet again on the Southside from Aug. 27-29. –Field Level Media (@FieldLevelMedia)
