Northwestern head coach Pat Fitzgerald does not sound like a man planning to join the Green Bay Packers. Following a 31-20 win over Utah that gave Northwestern nine wins, Fitzgerald pledged his loyalty to the university as reports circulate of the Packers’ plan to make a play for the coach. “Hashtag Go Cats, man. I’m not going anywhere. This is home forever,” Fitzgerald said. He later added, “I’m a Wildcat for life.” However, ESPN reported Tuesday that Fitzgerald is expected to accept an interview for the job. Packers CEO and president Mark Murphy knows Fitzgerald well. He was Northwestern’s athletic director when Fitzgerald was hired in 2006. The Packers fired Mike McCarthy on Dec. 2 and have begun interviewing candidates for the vacancy. –Field Level Media
