Southern Cal quarterback Kedon Slovis remains out with a concussion and won’t start Saturday when the No. 21 Trojans face No. 17 Washington in a Pac-12 showdown.
Making his first career start will be junior Matt Fink, USC coach Clay Helton said. Fink entered the transfer portal in the spring but withdrew his name, staying with the Trojans.
Returning starter JT Daniels suffered a season-ending ACL injury and a meniscus tear in his knee on Aug. 31 in the season opener against Fresno State. Slovis, a freshman, filled in admirably but left last week’s win over Utah with a concussion. He did not practice this week.
After the injury to Slovis, Fink was 21-of-30 passing for 351 yards, three touchdowns and an interception.
Backing up Fink will be junior Brandon Perdue, who was shifted to safety in spring camp after two seasons as a junior college quarterback.
Helton said two other starters — safety Talanoa Hufanga (concussion protocol, sprained shoulder) and Olaijah Griffin (back) — will miss the game.
