The New York Yankees acquired outfielder/pinch runner Terrance Gore in a trade with the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday.
In exchange for Gore, Kansas City received cash considerations from New York.
The Yankees sent Gore to play with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. While he is not on the 40-man roster, he could find himself on New York’s potential playoff roster due to his speed.
During his six years in the majors, Gore has been used primarily as a pinch runner. Before this season, Gore had appeared in 63 games, but he had only 16 at-bats compared to 27 steals in 31 attempts.
This year, Gore played in 37 games for the Royals, compiling a .275 batting average, a .362 on-base percentage and 13 stolen bases in 51 at-bats.
He won a World Series ring with Kansas City in 2015, appearing in two postseason games.
The Royals had designated Gore for assignment on Friday.
