Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith’s availability for Sunday is suddenly up in the air.
Smith appeared on Friday’s injury report with a groin injury and is listed as questionable for Week 14 against the NFC West-leading San Francisco 49ers.
“He just tweaked his groin a little bit (Thursday),” Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said. “Just kind of stumbled over somebody.”
Smith did not practice Friday. Asked if he thought Smith would be able to play Sunday, Carroll said, “We’ll see.”
Drew Lock would start for Seattle if Smith is ruled out.
Smith was already dealing with a triceps injury on his throwing arm, suffered Nov. 19 in a loss to the Los Angeles Rams. He has yet to miss a start since winning the job in training camp before the 2022 season.
Smith has thrown for 2,918 yards, 15 touchdowns and nine interceptions in 12 games this year.
The Seahawks (6-6) have lost three straight games, including 31-13 at home against the 49ers (9-3) on Thanksgiving. Seattle enters the weekend in a tie with the Minnesota Vikings, Green Bay Packers and Rams for the final two NFC wild-card spots.
Seattle also listed running backs Kenneth Walker III (oblique) and Zach Charbonnet (knee), wide receiver Dee Eskridge (ribs), nose tackle Jarran Reed (hamstring), linebacker Jordyn Brooks (ankle) and cornerback Tre Brown (heel) as questionable.
The 49ers ruled out wide receiver Ray-Ray McCloud (rib), tight end Ross Dwelley (ankle) and defensive lineman Arik Armstead (knee, foot). They listed running back Elijah Mitchell (knee), guard Spencer Burford (knee) and cornerback Darrell Luter Jr. (hamstring) as doubtful.
