According to the Yankees, Paxton underwent microscopic lumbar discectomy and also had a peridiscal cyst removed. The surgery was performed by Dr. Andrew Dossett in Dallas.
Paxton posted a 15-6 record with a 3.82 ERA in a career-high 29 starts last season, his first with the Yankees. The 31-year-old Canadian is set to become a free agent after the 2020 campaign.
Paxton has a 56-32 mark with a 3.50 ERA in 131 career starts with the Seattle Mariners (2013-18) and Yankees.
