Australia’s Alex de Minaur and Katie Boulter of Great Britain made some news before the scheduled United Cup competition between their nations on New Year’s Day.
The tennis stars announced their engagement on Monday.
“We’ve been keeping a small secret…,” Boulter wrote on Instagram, the caption accompanying a picture of the couple with her engagement ring on prominent display.
The United Cup, a mixed teams event, starts the new tennis season next week in Sydney, Australia. Both players are on the rosters for their respective countries.
With one win, de Minaur will reach his 250th ATP Tour victory. The nine-time tournament winner heads into the season ranked ninth in the world.

Per reports, the 28-year-old Boulter and de Minaur, 25, have been dating since 2020.
