BetBoom Team cruises at start of Fissure Playground Belgrade

league of legends, fans

BetBoom Team needed barely more than an hour total to win two matches as the Fissure Playground Belgrade event began on Friday in Serbia.

The $1 million Dota tournament is starting with 16 teams competing in a group stage using a modified Swiss system. Group-play matches consist of a single map in the early going, then are best-of-three for matches that determine advancement or elimination.

The top eight teams in the group phase move on to the double-elimination playoffs. All playoff matches will be best-of-three except for the grand final on Feb. 2, which will be best-of-five.

On Friday, BetBoom Team routed Shopify Rebellion in 24 minutes on green, then topped Wildcard in 38 minutes on red. Russia’s Danil “gpk” Skutin compiled a combined 18-3-22 kill-death-assist ratio for BetBoom Team.

Three other teams swept their two matches on Friday.

Team Liquid defeated AVULUS in 36 minutes on green, then beat Talon Esports in 47 minutes on green. Team Spirit posted a 51-minute victory on green against Chimera Esports, then got past Yakult Brothers in 46 minutes on red. Heroic needed 60 minutes on green to edge Team Falcons, then toppled Aurora Gaming in 43 minutes on green.

In matches among teams that earlier lost their openers, Gaimin Gladiators beat Xtreme Gaming in 45 minutes on red, PARIVISION posted a 35-minute win on green against Chimera Esports, Tundra Esports cruised past Shopify Rebellion in 26 minutes on green, and Team Falcons pulled out a 62-minute triumph against AVULUS on red.
