Team Spirit, HEROIC register sweeps on Day 2 of PGL Wallachia Season 3

There weren’t many blowouts in Round 2 on Sunday, unlike the opening day with six sweeps in the group stage of the Dota PGL Wallachia Season 3 in Bucharest.

The second day featured sweeps by Team Spirit and HEROIC. That was it as 16 teams competed in eight best-of-three matches and six went to a third map.

The $1 million Defense of the Ancients tournament began Saturday and runs through March 16. Using the modified Swiss system of play, the group stage consists of five rounds before the top eight teams advance to the playoffs.

All group stage matches are best-of-three and the playoffs are double elimination. All playoff matches are best-of-three except for the grand final, which is best-of-five.

Team Spirit defeated Gaimin Gladiators in 26 and 35 minutes, both on green. HEROIC got the better of Yellow Submarine in 38 minutes on green and 45 minutes on red.

In tighter contests:

Team Falcons defeated Extreme Gaming 2-1, winning in 43 minutes, losing in 79 minutes and winning in 67 minutes, all on red.

Team Liquid pulled a reverse sweep against Aurora Gaming, losing in 53 minutes on green before winning in 39 minutes on red and 34 minutes on green.

Tundra Esports topped Team Tidebound, winning in 27 minutes on green, losing in 32 minutes on red and winning in 42 minutes on red.

Nigma Galaxy also pulled a reverse sweep against Natus Vincere, falling in 58 minutes on red before triumphing in 37 minutes on green and 39 minutes on red.

AVULUS did the same to Mosquito Clan, losing in 45 minutes on green, then winning in 42 minutes on red and 50 minutes on green.
