Four teams swept their way into the group stage’s upper-bracket finals and four others were eliminated on Day 2 of FISSURE Playground #3 on Wednesday in Suzhou, China.
MIBR and BetBoom Team will meet in the Group A upper-bracket final after sweeping 9z Team and Astralis, respectively. Legacy and FURIA reached the Group B upper-bracket final with sweeps of Alliance and PARIVISION, respectively.
Group A’s The MongolZ and BIG were knocked out along with Group B’s FaZe Clan and GamerLegion with losses in the lower-bracket quarterfinals.
The $1 million Counter-Strike 2 tournament began Tuesday with 16 teams divided into two groups of eight playing in a double-elimination format. Group winners will advance directly to the semifinals, the runners-up will advance to the quarterfinals as the high seeds, and each third-place team will move to the quarters as the low seeds.
The single-elimination playoffs run Friday through Sunday. All matches are best-of-three until the best-of-five grand final. The winning club will collect $300,000 — $165,000 for the player prize and $135,000 for the team share.
In Wednesday’s Group A upper-bracket action, MIBR defeated 9z Team 13-6 on Mirage and 13-7 on Nuke. Brazil’s Felipe “insani” Yuji and Lucas “nqz” Soares co-led MIBR with 31 kills each. BetBoom Team beat Astralis 16-14 on Ancient and 13-8 on Anubis, thanks to a game-high 45 kills from Russia’s Kirill “Boombl4” Mikhailov.
In the upper bracket in Group B, Legacy dominated Alliance with a 13-4 win on Inferno and a 13-6 victory on Dust II. Argentina’s Santino “try” Rigal tallied a team-high 33 kills for Legacy. FURIA posted a 13-2 win on Ancient and a 13-11 decision on Inferno in defeating PARIVISION, paced by 41 kills from Brazil’s Kaike “KSCERATO” Cerato.
