Xtreme Gaming, LGD Gaming, Natus Vincere and Team Yandex moved to 2-0 in group play of PGL Wallachia Season 9 on Sunday in Bucharest, Romania.
In the modified Swiss system, those four teams are now one win away from securing their spot in the playoffs. They’ll face one another in a pair of Round 3 matches Monday.
The group stage of the $1 million Dota 2 tournament, which started Saturday and runs through Wednesday, consists of 16 teams. All matches are best-of-three.
The top eight teams advance to the playoffs and the other eight are eliminated. The playoffs, which run from Sept. 24-27, are double elimination with all matches best-of-three except for the grand final, which is best-of-five.
On Sunday, Xtreme Gaming rallied past Conventus Stellarum 2-1. After Conventus took the first map in 36 minutes on green, Xtreme answered with 36- and 70-minute wins on green.
LGD swept GamerLegion, winning in 47 minutes on green and 33 minutes on red.
Natus Vincere defeated Aurora Gaming 2-0, prevailing in 43 1/2 minutes and 34 minutes, both times on red.
Finally, Team Yandex shut out Team Nemesis with a pair of quick wins on red, in 27 and 29 minutes.
In the four matches that featured 0-1 squads, Team Cobra got past PlayTime 2-1; 1w Team beat Hokori 2-0; Pipsqueak+4 charged back to beat Yakult Brothers 2-1; and MOUZ blanked Pibbles Corp 2-0.
The four losing sides, now 0-2, face elimination from here on out, with two guaranteed to be shown the door Monday.
