Report: Longhorns QB Thompson not transferring

After dipping his toes in the NCAA transfer waters, Texas redshirt freshman quarterback Casey Thompson reportedly has decided to remain with the Longhorns.
Thompson entered his name in the transfer portal last month to explore his options but informed Texas coaches on Friday that he is not leaving Austin, OrangeBloods.com first reported.
Thompson, a four-star recruit in the Class of 2018, will enter spring camp as the backup to rising junior Sam Ehlinger.
Thompson leapfrogs two departing players on the QB depth chart, with Cameron Rising having transferred to Utah and graduating senior Shane Buechele exploring his own transfer options.
Ehlinger led the Longhorns to a 10-4 season and a Sugar Bowl victory as a sophomore, completing 64.7 percent of his passes for 3,292 yards with 25 touchdowns and five interceptions. He also rushed for 482 yards and 16 touchdowns.
