Brandon Marsh and Bryson Stott homered in an eight-run ninth inning and the Philadelphia Phillies rallied past the host Washington Nationals 14-9 on Tuesday night.

Marsh hit a two-out, two-run homer off Brad Lord (5-1) to tie it and Stott hit a go-ahead three-run shot. The Phillies plated three more runs in the inning on a two-run double by Edmundo Sosa and an RBI single by Trea Turner.

Lord got two quick outs in the ninth before Turner singled and Marsh homered to right field. After Bryce Harper and Derek Hill singled, Stott homered to center.

Luis Garcia Jr. homered in the bottom half for the Nationals, but it wasn’t enough.

Sosa also homered and drove in five runs to lead the Phillies’ 17-hit attack.

J.T. Realmuto gave the Phillies a 6-5 lead with a three-run double in the top of the eighth, but Washington’s Jorbit Vivas hit a three-run homer in the bottom half to put Washington ahead 8-6 after Garcia and Dylan Crews walked.

Crews had two hits, was hit by a pitch and scored three runs for the Nationals. Vivas also had a single and a walk.

Phillies designated hitter Kyle Schwarber and Nationals shortstop CJ Abrams were both late scratches — Schwarber because of low back tightness and Abrams with left side tightness.

The Nationals took a 1-0 lead in the second. Crews led off with a single and went to third on a single by Vivas. Crews came home when Jacob Young grounded into a double play.

Washington loaded the bases with one out in the fourth. Young flied to short center, but Nasim Nunez singled down the third base line to score two runs. After Nunez stole second, Jose Tena singled to left, scoring two more to make it 5-0.

The Phillies answered in the fifth. Stott led off with a single, and with two outs, Sosa — in the lineup in place of Schwarber — homered to center.

Stott singled leading off the seventh and went to third when Gabriel Rincones Jr. singled. Orlando Ribalta came on to face Sosa, who grounded into a fielder’s choice, beating the relay throw with a run scoring to make it 5-3.

Phillies starter Jesus Luzardo went 6 2/3 innings. He gave up five runs on six hits while matching his career high with 13 strikeouts.
