The Columbus Crew announced the signing of free agent midfielder Lassi Lappalainen on Wednesday.
The 26-year-old Finland international is under contract through the 2025 season with an option for 2026.
Lappalainen spent the past six seasons with CF Montreal, tallying 15 goals and 15 assists in 99 MLS matches.
He will be reunited with Crew coach Wilfried Nancy, who coached Montreal during the 2021-22 seasons.
“Lassi’s ability to play multiple positions makes him a valuable addition to our group,” Crew general manager Issa Tall said.
“Lassi brings with him a wealth of experience and familiarity with the demands of our style of play, and we look forward to integrating him into our squad when preseason gets underway next week.”
Columbus opens the 2025 season at home against the Chicago Fire on Feb. 22.
