Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic and forward Aaron Gordon are not playing in the team’s home game against the Houston Rockets on Wednesday night.
Jokic injured his elbow during warmups and was ruled out before the start of the game while Gordon is out due to right calf injury management. Gordon missed nine games with the injury before returning for the two wins in Dallas on Sunday and Tuesday.
Gordon, who is tied for fourth on the team with 13.4 points per game, has played in just 19 of Denver’s 40 games including Wednesday’s contest.
Jokic leads the team in scoring (30.6), rebounding (13.2) and assists (9.9). He is third in the NBA in scoring and rebounding and second in assists.
This is the first game Jokic has missed this season due to injury. He was out three games in November for the birth of his son and two more last week with an illness.
The Nuggets (24-15) entered Wednesday fourth place in the Western Conference, a half-game behind third-seeded Memphis and 2 1/2 games behind second-seeded Houston.
