Sixers sink club-record 24 3-pointers, extend Raptors’ skid

76ers

Kelly Oubre Jr. scored 32 points as the visiting Philadelphia 76ers hit a team-record 24 3-pointers and defeated the Toronto Raptors 135-120 Sunday.

The Raptors (23-51) have lost 13 in a row and were swept in the four-game season series.

Former Raptors stalwart Kyle Lowry had 11 points and 10 assists for the 76ers (40-35), who had lost their three previous games and five of six.
Cameron Payne added 24 points, Tobias Harris had 21, Nicolas Batum scored 19 and Buddy Hield chipped in 13.

Gary Trent Jr. scored 23 points for the Raptors. Jordan Nwora added 19 points, Bruce Brown and Kelly Olynyk each scored 18, Gradey Dick added 12 and Javon Freeman-Liberty had 11.

Philadelphia took an eight-point lead into the fourth after leading by 18.

Nwora made a six-foot jumper to open the fourth quarter. Philadelphia responded with the next five points. The lead increased to 15 on Lowry’s 3-pointer with 7:34 to play. Trent’s 3-pointer cut the lead to eight with 3:28 remaining. Payne came back with a 3-pointer.

The 76ers led 35-27 after the first quarter.

Oubre was shaken when he took a hard fall early in the second quarter after going up for a dunk and was fouled by Garrett Temple. He remained in the game and made one of two free throws.

Oubre’s running dunk gave the 76ers a 48-31 lead with 7:41 to play in the second quarter. The lead reached 18 on Payne’s 20-footer with 5:22 left.

Trent reeled off seven straight points to trim the margin to 10 with 3:01 to play in the quarter. Hield scored five straight points to bump the margin to 16.
Trent and Oubre finished the first half with 3-pointers and Philadelphia led 71-55.

The lead reached 18 early in the third before Brown’s 3-pointer cut the lead to 10 with 3:29 to go. Freeman-Liberty’s dunk reduced the lead to seven, but Batum answered with a 3-pointer. Philadelphia led 101-93 after three quarters.

Tyrese Maxey (hip) was added to Philadelphia’s injury list.
