Tim Stutzle’s goal with 6:38 left in the third was the game-winner Saturday for the visiting Ottawa Senators, who won for the third time in their last four games thanks to a 3-2 victory over the San Jose Sharks.

The goal capped a two-point night for the Senators’ leading scorer. Dylan Cozens and Fabian Zetterlund also got goals for the Senators, who are now 2-0 to start their seven-game road trip. Jake Sanderson got his 12th assist of the season, putting him one behind Drake Batherson, who got his team-leading 13th helper.

Linus Ullmark stopped 17 shots for the Senators to get his eighth win in as many starts against San Jose.

John Klingberg and Barclay Goodrow scored for the Sharks, who lost in regulation at home for the first time since Oct. 28. Macklin Celebrini got an assist to give him at least a point in eight of his last nine games.

Alex Nedeljkovic, playing for the first time in a week, made 24 saves for the Sharks.

Stutzle found himself in the right place at the right time, trailing a two-on-none breakaway by Batherson and Nick Cousins. Nedeljkovic stopped Cousins’ shot, but the puck remained on the goal line and a charging Stutzle got his stick on it before Klingberg could for his 11th goal and 21st point.

Both teams saw their power-play units succeed in the first period.

Cozens gave Ottawa the lead with 12:10 left. Stationed in the high slot, the Senators forward redirected the puck after Stutzle fed it to him from the left faceoff circle. Sanderson earned the secondary assist on the play.

Klingberg got his third of the season with 7:54 remaining, on a wrister as he skated into the right faceoff circle. Celebrini and Will Smith got the assists, but Alexander Wennberg also helped as he screened Ullmark.

Wennberg did assist on the Sharks’ Goodrow’s go-ahead goal that came at 12:13 to go in the second. Wennberg pounced on a rebound created by a Mario Ferraro shot stopped by Ullmark, and his shot caromed in off Goodrow’s skate.

The Senators would even the game with 92 seconds left in the middle period when Zetterlund beat Nedeljkovic from the right circle.
